Other than Harry Potter, fantasy is not really my cup of tea. I read someone's review of this series who said basically felt the same way, but that she liked these books. I listened to them and they were worth the read. Like a lot of series, things kinda fizzle by the end, but I had no problem finishing this out (Divergent on the other hand....tried 3 times to finish the third book!).
There is (of course) a cute love story that keeps it afloat :)
